Student Teacher Award Winners





Catherine Auld (L) & Amanda O'Reilly (R) congratulated by Dr Carmel Gallagher (GTCNI)

The General Teaching Council for Northern Ireland, recently presented the Student Teacher Award to two outstanding University of Ulster students.

Dr. Carmel Gallagher, GTCNI (Registrar) congratulated the two talented NQTs for their best in class student project work.

Catherine Auld for primary education and Amanda O’Reilly for the post primary award. 

Winner Summary Profiles

Catherine Auld: Catherine has been enjoying working as a teacher in Carrickfergus Primary School since she completed her PGCE.  She has ably taken on the role of co-ordinator for the school in Art & Design and is taking an extra-curricular Art club.  She also supports a numeracy and literacy project group.

Amanda O'Reilly:  Amanda was selected as part of the UU Citizenship progrramme and spent three weeks in Malawi teaching at various schools and she has fundraised extensively
to support these schools, providing a range of equipment and supplies. She was awarded her PhD during the PGCE year and was also voted the female student of the year in 2014 by her peers.
She is currently working in St Louis Grammar School in Ballymena.
