GTCNI abhorred by recent bomb attack at special needs school

The General Teaching Council for Northern Ireland (GTCNI), the professional and regulatory body for teachers issued a statement on behalf of the teaching profession conveying its shock and abhorrence at the recent bomb attack at the Ceara Special School,  Lurgan.

Dr Carmel Gallagher, Registrar of the General Teaching Council commented:

“As the professional and regulatory body for teachers, I am sure I speak for the whole profession when I say that we were completely horrified to learn of the recent reckless and despicable incident at Ceara Special School. No one in a democratic society should be subjected to this sort of recklessness, least of all our most vulnerable children and their parents, teachers and support staff. We hope that normality can be restored as soon as possible and that anyone with any information will contact the PSNI immediately”.
