The GTCNI Annual Lecture will be given by Prof Dame Jocelyn Bell Burnell FRS of Oxford University on 19th May at the University of Ulster, York Street, Belfast.  

The lecture is entitled 'The end of the world in 2012? Science communication, science education and science scares.'


Profile - Prof Dame Jocelyn Bell Burnell

As a native of Belfast she began her studies for a BSc at the University of Glasgow and graduated with Honours in Physics in 1965. She completed a Ph.D. at the University of Cambridge in 1969. She was awarded a CBE in 1999. In 2007 she was made a Dame of the British Empire. She is also a Fellow of the Royal Society and a Foreign Member of the US National Academy of Sciences.
