Local Teachers - Towards the Edge

01-04-2009

Local teachers and educationalists attended the General Teaching Council for NI (GTCNI) Annual Lecture at Stranmillis University College last night to take a journey with Prof Andrew Pollard, Director of the Teaching and Learning Research Project, who was visiting from the Institute of Education at the University of London. He took the attendees ‘Towards the Edge’ of their knowledge about teaching and learning during his lecture.

The Chief Registrar of GTCNI, Eddie McArdle commented:

“Professor Pollard is one of the U.K.’s leading educationalists and the wide range of research evidence that the TLRP project has generated helps the profession to understand the routine expertise that teachers deploy in making complex judgements about teaching and learning and managing large groups of children.  It is therefore essential that the findings of the TLRP research should also influence educational policy making at all levels”.
