General Teaching Council Northern Ireland

Do I need to maintain registration if I retire from teaching?

If you retire from teaching, it is not necessary to maintain your name on the register. You may allow your registration to lapse at the end of the current registration period. However, if you retire from full-time teaching, but wish to work as a substitute/supply teacher, you will need to retain your registered teacher status by paying the required registration fee.
