The RTU Summer School featured a session by GTCNI entitled 'Teaching: the Reflective Profession'.

Gerry Devlin (Senior Education Officer, GTCNI) examined the implications of the Northern Ireland Teacher Competences for teaching and learning and professional practice. The practical utility of the competences were considered for areas such as PRSD and School Development Planning.

The importance of the competences for teachers' continuing professional development was examined in detail and participants were also given the opportunity to engage in personal reflection and needs analysis.
